Since I bought a Tesla in 2015 I have quite often driven rather than taken the train or flown.
At first this was quite hard as the charging network was pretty poor but now it’s pretty easy. We can easily drive half way from Edinburgh or Pitlochry and now we find a little hotel or pub to stay overnight at.
We then continue to London and having calculated the charging costs it works out at about £60 each way for charging and then there is obviously wear and tear to account for.
It does take a little longer but I do enjoy finding a nice little place to stay and have a relaxing meal and breakfast before continuing the trip the next day.
It also allows us to take Bertie with us, but we have found that most hotels charge for a dog – ranging from £15 to £25 per night and a lot of hotels don’t allow dogs.
So we actually paid £66 a night for humans including breakfast but £25 for Bertie (for extra cleaning) and this got me thinking about a business idea. More to come and some research to make sure no one has done it yet!
