Donald Trump has just been elected as president for a second term. It is interesting especially listening to a large number of podcasts which show that the style of election campaigning was quite different to other parties.
Although I am not a huge fan it does show the power of the “Trump Brand” which represented more that just the republican party and in fact is at odds with a lot of mainstream republicans on a number of issues.
A interesting recent marketing article discussing the fact that People are the new brands probably highlights the attention economy more than anything and shows how someone like Donald Trump can end up in office.
I don’t really want to get into politics in this blog and really just wanted to highlight that for brands, companies and political parties there is strength in a rallying cry around a single voice and a personality.
